d Monsignor Matthew Mitas attended Cardinal Glennon College and Kenrick Seminary and was ordained to the holy priesthood 
for the Archdiocese of St. Louis, Missouri by Archbishop John Carberry on May 26, 1979.  He has served as transitional deacon at St. Edward  (1978-79) associate pastor at St. Simon (1979-84), Transfiguration (1984-88), Immaculate Conception in Arnold (1988-1991), St. Thomas the Apostle (1991-96), St. Gerard Majella (1996-99) and Ste. Genevieve in Ste. Genevieve (1999-2001).  He served as pastor of Immaculate Conception in Union (2001-2014)and in June of 2014 he was assigned as pastor of St. Angela Merici in Florissant.
In September of  2008, Msgr. Mitas received papal honors and was given the honorary ecclesiastical title “Reverend Monsignor.”  Since 2005, he has been a regular columnist for the St. Louis Review “Dear Father” feature, and he is a Gold Medal Winner in the 2016 Priests Wellness Challenge.
