Over 100 women and men attended the parish First Saturday Mass 
with Blessing of Throats for the feast of St. Blase. 
Fifty women were present for our talk, most staying for the Rosary
 for Priests, with 23 new women signing up to adopt a St. Louis priest.

ABOUT OUR SPEAKER: 
  
     Reveren
d Monsignor Matthew Mitas grew up in South St. Louis City where his family attended St. Francis de Sales Parish.  Feeling called to the priesthood at a young age, he entered high school seminary, and continued on to graduate from Cardinal Glennon College and Kenrick Seminary. On May 26, 1979,  John Cardinal Carberry ordained him to the holy priesthood for the Archdiocese of St. Louis, Missouri.  He served as transitional deacon at St. Edward  (1978-79), before being assigned as associate pastor to St. Simon (1979-84), Transfiguration (1984-88), Immaculate Conception in Arnold (1988-1991), St. Thomas the Apostle (1991-96), St. Gerard Majella (1996-99) and Ste. Genevieve in Ste. Genevieve (1999-2001).  He was made pastor at Immaculate Conception in Union (2001-2014), and then at St. Angela Merici in Florissant from June, 2014 to the present.
     Since 2005, Msgr. Mitas has been a regular columnist for the St. Louis Review's “Dear Father” feature.  In September of  2008, Msgr. Mitas received papal honors and was given the honorary ecclesiastical title “Reverend Monsignor.”
